Akufo-Addo ‘forced’ to comment about Accra floods albeit late

President Akufo-Addo has finally tweeted on the deaths that occurred following the floods that hit Accra and its environs. Akufo-Addo in his tweets on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 consoled the families of the 12 Ghanaians who lost their lives in the two separate floods in the capital. “The news of the death of 12 persons in the recent flooding that hit our nation’s capital is very sad. My sincere condolences to the families of the deceased,” the President said.

“GH¢197 million has been released to the Ministry of Works and Housing to desilt choked drains, the contracts for the works have been awarded, and are ongoing,” he added. He came under severe backlash after he posted message of commiserations to France following the fire at the Notre-Dame fire.

The President was accused by some Ghanaians on social media of caring more about happenings in other countries than in Ghana.
