Akufo Addo wants to declare another lockdown to avoid election – Kelvin Taylor

Listen To Article

UK based Ghanaian Journalist and lifetime founder of the Loud Silence Media, Kelvin Ekow Taylor has alleged that Ghana is likely to be under another lockdown by the President. According to the self-styled journalist, he has learned through reliable sources that President Akuffo Addo is conniving with Ghana Health Service to cook the number of active coronavirus cases in order to avoid elections.

His comments follow after the Ghana Health Service warned that Ghana risks experiencing a second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic if the general public fails to follow the prescribed measures.

Dr Dacosta Aboagye, who is the Director of the Health Promotion Division of the GHS and Leader of the Risk Communication for COVID-19 National Task Force said that the posture of the public was causing a gradual rise in active cases, and that if care was not taken, the nation would see a major rise soon.

But, Kelvin Taylor speaking on his televised With All Due Respect show last night fired back at the NPP leadership especially President Akuffo Addo over what he described as hypocritical for political parties to hold rallies and embark on campaign tours amid cheers from mass uncontrolled gatherings.

Registering his resentment on his show, he alleged that the President will intentionally issue another lockdown from November 20-25 just to suspend the impending 2020 election.

“This is hypocrisy. The Ghana Health Service has been ordered to cook numbers to put fear in the people. The President will surely lockdown the nation before November ends – he said.

Earlier this year, the coronavirus pandemic caught Ghana unaware which forced President Akuffo Addo to institute measures to stem the spread its spread. The rate at which the virus was rising in other countries was very disheartening and alarming and Ghana could not afford to face the same kind of situation. Lockdown was therefore declared on some parts of the country which had earlier recorded positive cases.

However, the number of active cases declined paving way for the easing of restrictions by the president.
