Armed robbers engage police in gun battle; 2 dead, 24 phones, cash retrieved

Ashanti Regional Police Patrol Team has engaged some armed robbers in a shootout resulting in the death of two of the armed robbers who went in the robbery.

Ashanti Regional Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) ASP Godwin Ahiayo address the public stated that the robbers who were four in number were said to have gone on a robbery at Santasi  Kajasi, Oteng-Nkwanta and its environs where they were able to make away with a lot of stuff from many houses.

He further stated that they received a call about a robbery which led to the deployment of the police patrol team who were in the area to go arrest the robbers who immediately fired shots at the police immediately they saw the police approaching.

“The other two (2) suspected armed robbers sustained gunshot wounds but managed to escape. We retrieved two weapons; one foreign pistol loaded with 3 live ammunition, 1 revolver with 3 spent ammunition, 2 big backpacks containing 3 laptops, 24 assorted mobile phones, 2 machetes, and GHS3,580”.He said.

Bodies of the two deceased robbers have been deposited at the morgue whiles the police still haunts for the remaining two members who were able to escape from the police.
