Autopsy confirms heart failure as Kofi Adda’s cause of death

Latest update regarding the death of former Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central and Aviation Minister Kofi Adda indicates he died of heart failure.

A source told that this has been confirmed by an autopsy carried out at the Ga East Hospital in Accra after the astute politician died at the Legon Hospital today, Thursday, at dawn.

Mr. Adda had yesternight complained of feeling dizzy and was rushed to the Legon Hospital where he passed on later after doctors tried their best to save him.

An autopsy has confirmed that he died of heart failure. He was 65 and is survived by a wife and two children.

Kofi Adda first became a Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo in 2003 after he won the By-election in the constituency after the death of the incumbent then Deputy Minister for Communications and Technology, Mr John Setuni Achuliwor.

Kofi Adda retained the seat for the NPP in 2004 and was appointed Minister of Man Power Development and Employment under the John Agyekum Kufour led administration. The late Add was later reshuffled and sent to the Energy Ministry as a Minister but was later replaced by Felix Owusu Adjapong.

In 2012 Mark Woyongo of the NDC defeated him to take the Navrongo seat but he snatched the seat back in 2016. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo appointed him Sanitation Minister upon assumption of office but later sent him to the Aviation Ministry in 2018 when he did his first reshuffle.

In a highly contentious contest, Kofi Adda was defeated off in the 2020 elections Primaries of the NPP by Tangoba Abayage who went on to lose the seat to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate.
