Spanish giants Barcelona have announced the signing of Ghanaian striker Kevin-Prince Boateng from Serie A side Sassuolo on loan. The former AC Milan forward will replace departed Munir El haddadi who joined Sevilla in the January window on a permanent deal. The 31-year-old who represented his native country at the 2006 World Cup has scored four goals in 13 appearances for Sassulo this season.

Boateng joined the Italian club from Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga after winning DFB-Pokal last season with a 2-0 victory over champions Bayern Munich. The ex-Tottenham star has been influential to Sassulo’s strong start in the early part of the season as they topped the table for a number of weeks before losing their position to Juventus and the likes.

Boateng who was dismissed from the Ghanaian national team for his unruly behavior towards officials had a short spell in La Liga with Las Palmas during the 2016/17 season. He will now play as a stand-in striker for Luiz Suarez at Barcelona who is on a superb goal scoring form for the Catalan giants this campaign.

Boateng is an exciting attacker who gives defenders headache with his dazzling skills as well as shooting with both legs including his aerial power in air balls.
