– MP for Builsa North, James Agalga, has reacted to comments passed by Paul Adom Otchere with respect to his role in a recent walkout in Parliament. According to him, the walkout and the display of placards forms part of normal parliamentary practice. He therefore advised Otchere to educate himself on parliamentary activities and refrain from damaging his hard-won reputation.
The Member of Parliament (MP) for Builsa North, James Agalga, has reacted to comments passed about him by popular Ghanaian broadcaster, Paul Adom Otchere. Peacefmonline.com reports that Agalga cautioned Otchere to refrain from damaging his hard-worn reputation. Speaking on Radio Gold, he explained that the conduct of the minority side of parliament during the swearing in of Lydia Seyram Alhassan is part of normal parliamentary practice.
He went on to say that, President Akufo-Addo and the entire security setup of Ghana should bow their heads in shame with regard to the violence that occurred during the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election. Agalga further noted that history is replete with several instances in which lawmakers adopted measures such as walkouts to register their displeasure with respect to certain issues.

He however wondered why people were quick to single the minority in Parliament out and attack them for brandishing the ‘bloody widow’ placard, without first condemning the brutality meted out to innocent Ghanaians in the constituency. In his opinion, Alhassan was the beneficiary of the brutality that was meted out to the innocent Ghanaians who came out to vote; hence their inscription “bloody widow”.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Otchere described the actions of the minority side as shameful. He was of the view that walking out of parliament in registering a protest is something that is acceptable as ‘normal’ parliamentary practice, but to put out a poster to call a colleague MP ‘bloody widow’ is uncalled for. “The honourable James Agalga should be ashamed of himself,” he stated on his ‘Good Evening Ghana’ show on Metro TV.
