Caf releases schedule for 2021/22 inter-club competitions

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has released the 2021/22 interclub season schedule including the information relating to the list of countries who will be allowed to enter two clubs.

The continent’s football governing body says the 2021/22 season will kick-off on 10 September 2021 with the first round of the preliminaries, while the group stages will start next year, February 2022.

The 12 highest ranked member associations, according to the ranking of Caf, will be allowed to represent two clubs in the Champions League and the Confederation Cup.

The countries are (according to their ranking) Algeria, Angola, DR Congo, Egypt, Guinea, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Zambia.

It has also extended the five substitutions rule for the 2021/22 Inter-club competitions.

Each club may register 40 players instead of the regulatory 30. Nine substitutes will be allowed on the bench instead of the regular seven.

The registration of players on the Caf CMS has been extended to August 15, 2021.

– Semi-Finals (1st Leg/2nd Leg) 6-8 May 2022/13-15 May 2022

– Finals: TBC from 22 to 29 May 2022
