he Deputy Central Regional Minister Hon Thomas Yaw Agyei Baffoe has charged the potential leaders in the region with a background of tourism to use their knowledge to help to lift the region from poverty into different level.
Speaking on the commission of newly Kakum Children’s Park held at Kakum National Park, the deputy regional minister therefore called the Chiefs and Stakeholders especially those in knowledge on tourism to hold a dialogue meeting with government and come out of blueprint that can help the region to generate income to support the ongoing developmental projects in the district levels.
According to him,he expressed worry on how the region over 20 years have been ranked as the most fourth poorest region in Ghana after the three northern regions which is not acceptable.
“So we are very determining to move this these region from where we met to different level and i think that tourism is one of tool we can use to move this region forward ” minister stressed.
He said the government on his way to sure those tourism attractions centers at various towns and villages in the region has been collapsed will be ramp in good use to ease or reduce unemployment rate.
Ms. Maisie Howell, Acting Executive Director Ghana Heritage Conservation Trust explained the new children’s park has features that will impact the children in learning to exhibit in school.
She therefore urged those in charge of park to take serious in maintenance culture and promises to keep the place safety.
Chairperson of the occasion Nana Akomea Ntrakwah II, Chief Linguist of Denkyira Traditional Area excited high rate of drop out students from tertiary level due to lack of financial support from their parents,therefore appealed to authorities of in charge of Kakum National Park to set a scholarship scheme initiative that can support the children from Kakum Community as the land belongs to entire community.
The New Kakum Children’s Park and introduction of animals viewing zone with exhibition center restoration project was done by department of conservation biology and entomology, school of biological sciences, college of agriculture and sciences university of cape coast is one of the products of the Kakum national park.
