COVID-19: Ghana records 12,193 cases, more deaths

Four(4)  more COVID-19 patients have died raising Ghana’s death toll to 58, the Ghana Health Service has announced on Tuesday.

According to Dr Patrick Aboagye-Kumah, Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, 229 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded as of June 15, 2020, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 12,193.

He made this known during the Ministry of Information’s press briefing on coronavirus

Out of the total number of 12,193 COVID-19 patients, 4,326 have recovered and discharged dropping the active cases at 7,813.

Dr Aboagye revealed that 70 cases were from the Ashanti Region while 42 were confirmed in the Central Region. Savanna Region, on the other hand, recorded 34 cases.

According to him, there is a process that people who die from the virus go through before they are finally reported to the general public.

His response comes after Pressure Group, OccupyGhana, alleged that the government is manipulating Ghana’s death numbers from the COVID-19.
