Ghanaian rapper, Desmond Blackmore, aka D-Black has admitted that he’s a lazy rapper thereby confirming the widespread perception Ghanaians have about his style of rap.
He contended that he adopted that style because good rap songs don’t make him money. Speaking to Abeiku Santana on the famous Atuu programme on United Television (UTV), D-Black noted that Ghanaians don’t appreciate music laden with a profundity that’s he switched and he has not regretted doing so.
He used his hit song, Vera as a case study. “When I was rapping, I was broke. When I was doing my rap stuff I was getting the accolades, BET but I didn’t get money. I went to the BET with $800 and when I came back I was broke for a very long time. But when I wrote “Vera” and recorded “Vera” everything changed”, he stressed.
