Final Funeral rites of Bawumia’s mother on October 24

MyNewsGh.com gathers that the final funeral rites for the mother of the Vice President of Ghana Dr Mahamudu Bawumia have been scheduled for October 24, 2021.

This date was reached after she was interred in accordance with Islamic doctrines at Kperiga, Walewale in the North East Region on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

The announcement of the date for the final funeral rites was made known through a Facebook post by a Special Assistant to the Vice President Dr. K. B Mahama.

“…thank you Ghana for showing the Vice President and family love, for commiserating with them and for all the donations made to support the family during the period of greater trial.

24th October is the final rites/prayer at Walewale.”

The burial drew dignitaries from both the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The 82-year-old died in Accra on Monday, September 13, 2021, after battling ill health.

Hajia Mariama is survived by five children.

The Vice President in announcing her death in a post shared on Facebook said “Inna Lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un (Indeed to Allah we belong, and to Allah we shall return.)It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother Hajia Mariama Bawumia. Hajia Mariama passed away peacefully this morning in Accra. Burial is scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday September 14, 2021 in Walewale.May the Almighty Allah grant her Jannatul Firdaus”.
