The contract staff of Stanbic Bank Ghana, Martha Amakye who was declared wanted and consequently arrested for stealing GH¢1,800,000 has been found guilty by an Accra High Court and jailed for 8 years, MyNewsGh.com has learnt.

In addition to her jail time, the court has ordered that all properties she has acquired should be confiscated and used by the bank to defray some of the debts.

Martha, who was an outsourced staffer from Noswall Management Service, a recruitment agency, fled when Stanbic Bank’s financial crime control unit found out that she was involved in fraudulent transactions. The court was earlier holding on with sentencing pending the determination of her pregnancy status, which has now been cleared.

Using her role as a personal solution consultant at the Tema Community One branch of Stanbic Bank, Martha Amakye reportedly collected money from customers on the pretext of investing the money in fixed deposits for them but failed to do so, although her very action is illegal.
