Ghana records 854 new COVID-19 cases; total now 22,822

COVID-19 cases have increased to 22,822 after the country recorded 854 new infections.

According to the Ghana Health Service, the new cases were reported on July 5, 2020 after samples were taken from the period of June 16 to July 2, 2020.

Recoveries and discharges now stand at 17,564 with 129 deaths, leaving the active cases at 5,129.

Currently, 24 people are in severe condition while 8 are in critical condition. Among those in critical condition, 5 are on ventilators.

Greater Accra Region still remains the epicentre with 12,560 cases followed by Ashanti Region with 4,824 and Western Region with 2,045.

Central Region – 1,064

Eastern Region -855

Volta Region – 370

Upper East Region – 278

Northern Region – 163

Bono Region – 96

Upper West Region – 58

Savannah Region – 50

Ahafo Region – 36

North East Region – 9
