If you are a Ghanaian speaking up against what you hold to he wrongful use of funds by the boss of the Ghana Maritime Authority, you are a “stupid” person talking “nonsense” and should shut up.
This is according to Member of Parliament for the Assin Central constituency, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, who is strongly defending his good friend the embattled Director-General of the Ghana Maritime Authority (GMA), Kwame Owusu.
Kennedy Agyapong said the above in an interview on Asempa FM Monday.
Mr Agyapong said his friend’s posturing so far is the best, insisting he would have said worst things if he were in the GMA boss’ shoes.
The NPP MP said his good friend did no wrong and all the allegations being leveled against him are concoctions from social media which must be treated with contempt.

“Kwame Owusu is a very good friend of mine and he tells me everything. Why have journalists in this country refused to do due diligence before accusing him of misappropriating funds,” he said.
The lawmaker also insists that the hotel in which the end-of-year party was organized does not belong to Mr Owusu.
“The party was held at the Ghana Maritime premises. There is nothing like a conflict of interest anywhere so you guys should shut up. In fact, if I were Kwame, I would have said worst things. This is just nonsense; excuse me but this is just stupid,” he stated.
The outspoken MP, also rubbished claims Mr Owusu’s outfit spent a whopping GH¢10,652 on food for eight people at the Luxe Suites Hotel for one night.
Again, the Director-General Kwame Owusu confirmed media reports that his official residence has 11 air conditioners after its renovation cost some GHc1 million.
According to Mr Owusu, the number of air conditioners fixed in the renovated colonial style residence was reasonable because the number of rooms had increased.
“The places that I listen to you, for each one of them to have air conditioner will be 13, so the 11 is not even enough and by the way, we don’t put them on all together,” he said at a press conference he had recently with the media.
Following the renovation, the former wooden residence now has “four bedrooms on the main structure, a living room, a dining room, kitchen, a family room, a library and a basement. That is the main structure.”
We also have a guest house which should befit a Director General, for that matter where you can have a guest of your counterpart where they can stay. That one is one bedroom, a dining room, living room and a porch that has also been erected,” he added
