Photos: Ghanaians Turn Into Biblical Israelites ‘Walking From Egypt To Canaan’ As Drivers Embark On Strike

The scene in many parts of Ghana this morning is similar to that of the Biblical Israelites on their Exodus from Egypt to the Promised land of Canaan as many commuting Ghanaians are forced to walk to their places of work following an acrimonious strike by Driver Unions.

The Coalition of Commercial Transport Operators today, Monday, December 6, 2021, commenced an indefinite nationwide strike to protest the High cost of fuel prices in the country.

This comes after the drivers wore red arm bands for about a week.

According to the operators, the government has failed to heed their request to scrap some levies on fuel to cause a reduction in price hence their decision.

A general look on the streets of Accra especially reveals a lot of Ghanaians walking to their individual places of work, while commercial vehicles can be seen parked on the sides of the road.

Some of the country’s vehicle stations gave been turned into temporary football stations, as unbothered drivers and their conductors can be seen enjoying themselves to a treat of football while passengers look on helplessly.

Meanwhile, a solution is expected to be seen soon as Government has invited the leadership of the various driver unions for a closed door meeting to deliberate on the matter.
