The Inspector-General of Police(IGP) Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh is in kasoa this morning lead a delegation to the family of the policeman who was shot dead by suspected armed robbers.
Members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) are expected to accompany the Police Chief to Kasoa in the Central Region to commiserate with the family of Constable Emmanuel Osei.
Family sources revealed to MyNewsGh.com that the young officer with the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit who is unmarried was residing at the police transit quarters and readying himself for a permanent residence until his death on Monday, June 14, 2021.
The IGP who is not enthused about the latest incident, has vowed to withdraw men on vehicles used for cash-in-transit activities if they are not armoured in accordance with the Bank of Ghana(BoG) directives.
It would be recalled that MyNewsGh.com on Monday reported of how the life of the unformed officer was snuffed out by the robber on motorbikes.
Police investigators indicate that the Policeman was shot dead by three armed robbers who were using two motorbikes.
One other person identified as Afua Badu according to the investigators, was also chased and shot dead by the armed robbers because she raised an alarm attracting more people to the scene.
But an official whose name was given as Grace Essel was able to escape into the community and has been sent to the hospital for treatment.
Police said upon arrival at the scene, the driver of the bullion van was nowhere to be found but later got information that he had gone to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment.
The armed robbers, according to the Police made away with an AK 47 gun belonging to the Police and an unspecified amount of money.
