Captain of the English National Team the Three Lions of England Harry Kane has stated that “it hurts a lot” to see England denied a world cup final by the Croatian National Team.
Mario Mandzukic scored the winning goal deep in extra time as Croatia beat England 2-1 in an utterly gripping World Cup semi-final in Moscow.
Kieran Trippier’s magnificent early free-kick had seemingly set England on course to reach their first final since they lifted the trophy on home soil back in 1966.
But it wasn’t to be, as Croatia came roaring back in the second half and equalised through Ivan Perisic before somehow finding the energy to win despite being taken to extra time for the third time in 10 days.
Harry Kane who couldn’t lead his side to a historic world cup finals and probably win the cup after several years said in tweet that “It hurts a lot” adding that “It will hurt for a while. We can be proud and we’ll be back.”
The English skipper seized the occasion to thank the English supporters assuring them that England will bounce back.
Croatia will be meeting France in the world cup final for the first time in the history of Croatian football whiles England will face off with Belgium for the third and forth position in a match that many pundits believe will be a delight to watch.
