Just In: UEW, VC Disregards Court, holds Pro-VC Election

Information reaching My News Ghana from sources at the University of Education, Winneba indicates that an election for a Pro-Vice-Chancellor is being held today, 21st November 2019, despite an application for injunction filed at the Winneba High Court by Dr Frimpong Kaakyire Duku.

Dr. Duku filed the application for an injunction, following his appeal of the decision of the courts on 18th November 2019 on grounds that the proper jurisdiction of the courts was not invoked.

Despite the application for appeal and the injunction filed to restrain the University from holding the said election, authorities of the University have proceeded to hold elections of the Pro-Vice-Chancellor at the various campuses of the University.

According to our sources, the writ was served On the University yesterday, through one of the Principal Officers, Librarian Viscount Buer.
