– Former President Mahama has denied his government issued a diplomatic passport to Nana Appiah Mensah

– He also dismissed reports that he and his wife had investments with Menzgold Ghana Limited

– This was contained in a statement released by his spokesperson Bawa Mogtari Former President John Dramani Mahama has reacted to claims that his administration issued a diplomatic passport to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Menzgold Ghana Limited, Nana Appiah Mensah.

He also claimed that neither he nor his wife have any investments with the gold trading firm. His statement, communicated through his spokesperson, Bawa Mogtari, was in reaction to claims that the Mahama-led administration issued a diplomatic to Mensah.

Starrfmonline reports that Mogtari revealed that Mahama had nothing to do with Mensah, also known as NAM1. “There appears a desperate attempt, unsuccessful so far, by the NPP to drag former President John Mahama and other executives of the NDC into the unfolding Menzgold saga.

Fact though is that, neither Mahama nor his wife have any investments in Menzgold and the spurious claims by the NPP’s vice chairman that Nana Appiah was issued with a diplomatic passport by the NDC administration is just what it is, spurious and false,” she emphasized.

She went ahead to say that the government is desperately peddling lies and this will not change the views and disappointments of Ghanaians in the current administration.

The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has frozen NAM1’s bank accounts. EOCO secured the order to freeze the bank accounts of the beleaguered CEO of Menzgold popularly known as NAM 1 on Tuesday, January 15, 2019.

The businessman is currently in the grips of the Emirati police over a botched gold transaction totally distinct from the Menzgold-related issue according to the Ghana Police Service.
