Former President and flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has promised Ghanaians that his administration will give free primary healthcare to all Ghanaians by the end of 2021 if he is re-elected as president in the December General Elections.

Mr. Dramani Mahama made this promise to Ghanaians on Monday, July 27, 2020, during the unveiling of Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang as his running mate, at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).

“Ladies and gentlemen, as a Social Democratic Party, we seek to harness the best qualities in all our people to transform the destiny of our nation.

In that direction, and as the fulcrum around which our Health Policy will evolve, we will before the end of 2021, introduce and begin the implementation of a Free Primary Health Care Plan.

This will make the provision of primary health care to all Ghanaians, young and elderly, FREE. Our free health care plan will guarantee healthy people and provide the healthy workforce needed to accelerate our development.,” he said.
