Arsenal have a strong interest in West Brom defender Jonny Evans according to The Daily Star.
The Gunners tried to sign him in January, but saw their attempts knocked back by Tony Pulis who was West Brom manager at the time.
But Alan Pardew is manager now, and Starsport believe he is less resilient in keeping the North Ireland international, which must have revived interest from not just Arsenal this time, but Man City and his former club Man Utd.
Arsenal have Koscielny, Mustafi and Mertesacker as their only experienced center backs, with Holding and Chambers still developing, Mertesacker however is retiring this season.
Given that Wenger’s side switches between Three and four at the back, another center back is needed to replace Mertesacker should he retire, and Evans fits the bill with his experience.
In my opinion, Evans will add some grit to Arsenal’s defense, given that he has been tutored by Tony Pulis who favours a defensively strong side.
Fans, what do you think, should we sign Evans in January or face look for other targets? Drop your suggestions in the comment box below.
