Hon. Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuije, the incumbent Member of the Odododiodio constituency has been arrested by the military-police operation team.
This arrest is in connection with the electoral violence that happened at the Constituency on December 7.
The lawmaker and parliamentary candidate on the ticket of the NDC were picked up alongside his wife, daughter, and about fifteen other men who were with him over alleged shootings in the area.
Speaking to GhOne TV, Mr. Vanderpuije alleged that the police broke into a hotel he was working from and pumped tear gas into his room. This was a situation he found very disturbing and unfortunate.
News reaching MynewsGhana.net implies that the legislator, as well as the fifteen arrested, have been taken to the Accra Central Police Station.
Though reasons leading to the electoral violence have not been ascertained, it has been alleged that the candidate for the Odododiodio seat on the ticket of the NPP, Nii Lante Bannerman, sent his men to attack the incumbent MP.
The Odododiodio is was marked as a flashpoint due to some incidence that usually occurs during elections and campaigns.
