A member of the NPP Communications Team, Benjamin Akowuah Acheampong has urged his party and government communicators not to repeat the mistakes of the NDC and their communicators that caused them to lose favor before Ghanaians that lead to their humiliating defeat in 2016.
He explained ‘Governance is a huge task with so many things happening at the same time, it, therefore, behoves on communicators to propagate the good work of government and the party each time they have the opportunity to speak to Ghanaians.”
He said this when he represented the party during Power FM’s ‘Penpen Hard political show’ on Wednesday 8th August 2018.
He recounted, in the lead up to the 2016 electioneering campaign, the NDC upon realizing the huge communication gap between their government’s communication and the people of Ghana printed a brochure of all government projects in what came to be popularly known as the “GREEN BOOK”. It was later revealed that most of these projects were fictitious and non-existent.
“The government of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ably supported by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is working tirelessly to get Ghanaians to the promise land. A journalist will always raise the controversial issues for us to discuss but as communicators, we must go out of our way to enlightened Ghanaians on the milestones achievements of Government Ministries, Departments, and Agencies whenever we get the opportunity, and not wait till elections are due” He said.
Mr. Akowuah used the platform to highly commended the government for supporting 1,350 youth men and women entrepreneurs with GHc 50 million as startup capital for their businesses through the government’s NEIP flagship programme.
He also minced no words in applauding COCOBOD on their move to inject over GHc 2.4 billion in cocoa planting, providing adequate fertilizers to boost our declining cocoa yield. He assured cocoa farmers that government through the COCOBOD will embark on several other interventions that will benefit all.
