Nyantakyi was not use to prevent Ghana ban – Perry Okudzeto

Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Perry Okudzeto has stated that, former GFA boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi was not use to prevent Ghana ban from football activities.

If will be recalled that, after the Anas number 12 exposé, Government was seeking to dissolve the GFA board and all football activities in the country were halted. Following this, the world football governing body, FIFA warned the government to withdraw the court action seeking to dissolve the Ghana Football Association by Monday, 27 August, 2018 or face its wrath.

But speaking to host Adam Adjei on Dwidwamu Sports which airs on Agoo TV, the deputy minister of youth and sports said Nyantakyi was not in any way useful to prevent the FIFA ban. He explained that, it is president Akuffo Addo’s love for football and close relationship with FIFA boss, Gianno Infantino that helped prevent the ban.

“Let me state it clear, Kwesi Nyantakyi has nothing to do with the ban prevention, it was president Akufo-Addo’s love for football and his relationship with Gianno Infantino that helped prevented the ban, so Nyantakyi did not use to prevent FIFA ban, no”.

He added, even though Ghanaians have lost interest in the local league, the ministry is working relentlessly to restore the passion for football in Ghana.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has been lauded after they recently won the rights to host the 13th edition of the African Games in 2023 after beating Egypt in the bid process.
