Last week, the adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee of FIFA has banned former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi for life from all football-related activities.
Mr Nyantakyi described his lifetime ban handed him by football world governing body as “shocking” and says he will head to the Court of Arbitration for Sport to appeal the decision.
But the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is of the view that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should also be banned for life politically in view of the fact his name came up in the investigative work.
Ashanti Regional Communications Officer of the NDC, Abass Nurudeen is urging Ghanaians to also sanction the president in a similar fashion because he has dragged the name of the country into disrepute.
His argument is that all the things purported to have been said about President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo are also true and therefore must also suffer same fate politically like the former football administrator.
“Nothing that Nyantakyi said about President Akufo-Addo in the tape is a lie. How can somebody with no connection to the presidency be privy to such classified government information” He quizzed?
In his estimation, since the Nyantakyi saga begun the current administration has suffered credibility crises and the earlier Ghanaians see through happenings and reject them the better for the future of the country.
Meanwhile, the party’s General Secretary Mr Johnson Asiedu Nektia wants the Editor-In-Chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Junior to also be prosecuted for his role in the Number 12 video.
His request is borne from the fact that investigative piece was shown to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and deleted some portions he felt were injurious to his reputation and therefore must also answer for it.
“He is a key suspect in the matter because he first took the video to the President to watch after which some vital portions were deleted and therefore is a key problem in the whole matter”, he disclosed to Agya Yaw Obeng Preko on ‘Ghana te sen’ on Bohye fm MyNewsGh.com monitored.
