A 21-year-old Ethiopian woman identified as Almaz Derese reportedly took her exams in a hospital bed just 30 minutes after giving birth.

The woman who hails from Metu in Western Ethiopia was hopeful of writing her exams even before her baby was born.

Fortunately for her, the secondary school exams were postponed because of Ramadan which gave her the chance to write her exams immediately after delivery at the hospital.

The woman reportedly went into labour on Monday a few minutes before her first exams was due to commence.

According to her, she did not want to graduate the next year so she studied very well while she was pregnant.

Almaz wrote her English,Amharic and Maths Secondary School Exams in the hospital on Monday.

She will, however, sit for her remaining tests at the exam centre in the next two days.

“Because I was rushing to sit the exam, my labour wasn’t difficult at all,” Ms Almaz told BBC.

According to her husband, Tadese Tulu, he had to persuade the school to permit her wife to take the exams at the hospital.

Ms Almaz now wants to take a two-year course that will prepare her for university.

She disclosed that her exams went well and her baby boy is also well.
