A/R: Ban On Illegal Mining Has Increased School Enrollment – MP

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Manso Nkwanta Constituency, Joseph Albert Quarm has commended the President His Excellency Nana Addo Danquah Akufo- Addo for his bold decision to ban illegal mining activities in the country as it has improved student enrollment in the district.

He said, education is the pivot of the development of every society but for the past few years, illegal mining has affected the education sector adding the ban has been helpful.

Speaking to the media during one- day capacity building for 250 headteachers and various school management authorities at Antoakrom, Prof Quarm opined that the school feeding program has also been extended to some schools which have also shot up enrollment in schools.

The lawmaker also donated five motorbikes to circuit supervisors saying “teachers play majors roles when it comes to education and there is the need to provide jungle motorbike to circuit supervisors to use it to go round to monitor the teachers within the district”.

Meanwhile, the District Education Director, Mr.Kwabena Owusu commended the MP for his contributions over the years to improve the poor state of education in the area.

He expressed worry at the deplorable state of roads in the district as it is a big challenge facing education in district adding the motorbikes would go a long way to help in the development of education.
