The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has issued an alert to all its management members and regional commanders after a jailbreak incident in Nigeria last week.
Six prisoners reportedly returned, while 35 refused to escape.
Banned separatist group the Indigenous People of Biafra was accused of carrying out the attack though it reportedly denied involvement.
Following the incident, the Comptroller-General of GIS has alerted all controls.
“You are to inform officers and men under your command to take note and be on high security alert to prevent the entry of these criminal escapees from entering the country,” the wireless message sighted by 3news.com ordered.
“Treat as urgent and act accordingly,” it concluded.
Meanwhile, Ghana’s land and sea borders have remained closed since Sunday, March 22, 2020 as per an Executive Instrument by the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
