Uganda has over the past few weeks been under serious unrest as the country goes to the polls on 14th January 20201.
Incumbent President Yoweri Museveni, who has ruled the country since 1986, is seeking re-election
Museveni, 76, does not appear eager to let a fair and free democratic election unfold after more than three decades in power. In 2017, he changed the constitution to remove the age limit to allow him to extend his iron grip on power. This led to an outcry and street protests among Uganda’s youth.
Uganda’s government has currently placed a ban on social media sites in the country under reasons better known to the government
