The Democratic Republic of the Congo, a country in Central Africa with its people called Congolese on Thursday 15 October, began to demonstrate on social media, Twitter with the hashtag Congo is bleeding (#Congoisbleeding) as Genocide spikes in Congo over the natural resource.
A quick stroll on Twitter this morning only brings one question to mind. What is going on in Africa?
Initially, we thought the police brutality in Nigeria was the only urgent political crisis to be tackled by the continent. However, it seems that was far from right.
#Congoisbleeding is also trending on Twitter and it seems the fate of the Congolese is even worse than that of the Nigerians.
Fight over natural resources in Congo has gotten out of hands and has sparked genocide in the country.
The conflict has caused many Congolese to fall victims of rape, starvation, torture and murder.
What Is Happening In the Democratic Republic of the Congo?
In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a country in Central Africa, 48 women are raped every hour, millions displaced, over 6 million are killed (half of them being children).
Congo is currently going through a silent holocaust. Millions of people are being killed so the Westerns world can benefit from its resources.
In a video available to mynewsghana.net, Children who are supposed to be enjoying their youth are rather working tirelessly, for $2 a day.
In Congo cobalt mines that exploit children, around 40,000 children work in cobalt mines in the Democratic Republic of Congo. These kids earn less than $2 (1.80 Euros) a day.

Am heart wrenched!! What Is Happening In Africa!!! While you’re praying for Nigerians to #endsars and #policebrutality please remember DR Congo as they are experiencing the same barbaric acts and it’s also trending with the hashtag #congoisbleeding . A continent so rich in resource but yet the people suffer due to greed and corruption. These are some of the reasons we say Africa lacks leadership. Congo is bleeding. I feel so ashamed to watch this video from my phone. Children who are supposed to be enjoying their youth are rather working tirelessly, for $2 a day. Africa has been bleeding for more than 500 years. How long shall we suffer in the hands of our enemies? Who is the enemy? Our own African leaders, that’s who. #congoisbleeding
