Special Prosecutor will put ‘fear of God’ in people – Nana Addo

The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has said that he hopes the creation of the Office of Special Prosecutor will help tackle corruption in public offices in the country.
Speaking at an encounter with the press at the Flagstaff House in Accra, the President announced that he is of the firm belief that corruption will be reduced drastically as the Special Prosecutor will be chasing persons who are accused of being corrupt.
“The Office of The Special Prosecutor (Martin Amidu) will put the fear of God in people,” he said.
The President, Nana Akufo-Addo nominated Martin Amidu, popularly called the Citizen Vigilante, as the Special Prosecutor for the newly created office of the Independent Prosecutor last week.

There have been mixed reactions to the announcement of Martin Amidu as the President’s choice to occupy the position of Special Prosecutor.
While some believe the former Attorney General will pursue corrupt officials in the former administration, others are of the opinion that he will not spare corrupt officials in Nana Addo’s administration as well.
But the President speaking at the media encounter said the office will ‘put the fear of the Lord’ in his appointees.
He further claimed that as part of fighting corruption, he [the President] has initiated investigations into all acts of corruption leveled against his appointees.
“So far, any single act or allegation of corruption against any member of my government has or are being investigated…,” he said.
