Swansea City have thanked record signing Andre Ayew after he left the club following the expiration of his contract and the side’s inability to secure promotion to the English top-flight.
Ayew, 31, scored 35 goals in 106 appearances for the Swans since rejoining from West Ham United in January 2018.
Ayew’s salary – he is Swansea’s top earner by a distance – meant his exit was inevitable after the club missed out on promotion to the Premier League.
He emerged as the side’s top scorer with 17 goals as they failed in their promotion bid after losing the play-offs to Brentford.
And the Swans have thanked the Ghana captain for his contribution and memories.
Ayew originally joined Swansea on a free transfer from Marseille back in 2015 scoring 12 goals in 35 appearances in the Premier League, before joining West Ham for £20.5m a season later.
