Trotro Fares To Be Increased

Listen To Article
Transport operators are expected to press for a rise in transport fares in the coming weeks.
The likely price rises in tariffs are the result of a study of the prices of petroleum products supplied by the country’s bulk oil dealers to oil marketing firms.

Prices would increase between 1% and 3% in the review, with a liter of diesel selling at GH 5.05 pesewas and a gallon selling at GH 22.72 pesewas.

On the other side, for GH 5.14 pesewas, a litre of petrol would be sold with a gallon going for GH 23.13 pesewas.

In view of the existing agreement between government and operators that if the prices of petroleum products cross five per cent within a quarter, the rise in transport tariffs by transport operators is likely to be pushed, there should be negotiations on tariff increases.

The new prices are likely to be forwarded by Bulk Oil Distributors to Oil Marketing Firms this weekend for the requisite price adjustments beginning next week.
