A senior Law lecturer at the University of Education Winneba, Alhassan Salifu Bawa, has accused some staff of the university of plotting to take his life.
According to him, his colleagues have attempted on several occasions to poison him but could not succeed.
He alleged that some gunmen who always parade themselves in the school as students were contracted by his colleagues to assassinate him but they also failed.
Narrating his ordeal on Atinka TV’s News, the Lecturer said his driver told him that some thugs persuaded him to drive carelessly to cause an accident so that he will die.
He attributed the alleged plot to some misunderstanding with some of his colleagues over outgoing and incoming Vice Chancellor, saying that those who felt rejected and were unhappy about a decision taken about who heads the school, walked to him and threatened him after one of their meetings.
But when asked if he had reported the issue to the police, he said they were rumours and therefore would pray to God to protect his life.
“No. Because there is no evidence to that, I have not reported it, this is just hearsay so you cannot act on it because there is no audio or video recording so I have just made some close allies aware so that in case anything happens, they will investigate those who threatened me,” he said.
He explained further that due to lack of evidence and as someone who knows the law, it will be time wasting to report the matter, therefore resorting to Atinka TV for the public to know.
“I walk around freely, I do not have security and I am ok with it. I don’t have a problem. I am not fighting for the VC, it is the system, it is the law that makes the VC, so it is the law that some of us are trying to adhere to,” he said.
Meanwhile, Alhassan Salifu Bawa, further cautioned some elders in Winneba who are allegedly collaborating with some hired thugs to attack the University to be very careful and put a stop to their intended plan.
