UPDATE: Kidnapped Canadians rescued,Ghana Remains Safe – Gov’t to Foreign Nationals


Information reaching Mynewsghana.com indicates that the two Canadians who were kidnapped last week have been rescued and are safe according to a police source in Kumasi.

Our sources revealed that the two kidnapped Canadian were rescued on Wednesday morning at Sawaba a suburb of Kumasi by a combined team of police SWAT and National Security Operatives.

We have also established that the driver of the car used for the kidnapping is currently in police grips assisting with investigations.

Mynewsghana.com last Wednesday reported the kidnap of the two foreigners by the yet to be identified assailants in Kumasi.

The two females, aged 19 and 20, were bundled into a red Toyota car by four men at the entrance of a private hostel when they stepped out of an Uber car at about 8:25 p.m on June 4, 2019.

The four men are said to have fired several warning shots to ward-off onlookers at about 8:25 p.m.

The criminals are said to have stopped and pushed the two into a car at gunpoint at about 8:30 P.M. at Silver Spring Avenue, around Vienna City, a popular pub in Kumasi.

One of the victims named Lauren and is in the country with her compatriot on an exchange programme with the Entrepreneurship Department of the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU).
