Three Arrested Over Alabar Shooting

Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested three suspected armed robbers over a robbery incident that happened at the Alabar market in Kumasi Friday, October 30.

The incident which occurred in broad daylight saw scores of traders running helter-skelter.

One person was shot dead with three others wounded.

The deceased has been identified as Anwar Hussain.

An amateur video of the incident which has since gone viral captured seven men on three motorbikes at the market.

One of the suspects shot among the traders as they fled the scene on their motorbikes.

The Alabar market is the biggest black market in the Ashanti Region.

An eyewitness who spoke to Citi FM said the gang of suspected robbers “shot four people”.

“All of us (traders) run away from our shops. I haven’t seen even one police officer here,” the eyewitness added.

According to the eyewitness, the attackers were on motorbikes.
