Exactly three years ago today, my Grandma Mma Alima Dagomba who took care of me at Nima died. She single-handedly funded my Islamic education at Nima with her meager market sales and taught me how to “say it as it is” without fear or favour. When a Canadian team of filmmakers came to Ghana to do a film about me, (Chameleon) they asked that apart from my parents, who else has inspired me? I took them straight to Nima to meet my Grandma and to see Nima, where I grew up. I also introduced all the market women who helped shape my life. As I watch this video, I can only miss her. May Allah forgive Grandma and grant her jannatul firdaws. Ameen.
