The Electoral Commission will today end its mass voter registration exercise across the country.
The exercise which started on June 30, 2020, was projected to record a little over 16 million voters.
However, the EC exceeded its projected 15 million mark at the close of phase 5 of the exercise.
“We have maintained that registered voters between 14 million and 16 million should be okay, and it is very probable that we will register around 16.5 million,” Dr. Bossman Eric Asare, Deputy Chairman in charge of Corporate Affairs at the Electoral Commission (EC), said on Monday.
The Greater Accra, centra, Ashanti and Eastern regions have registered the highest number of voters, while the five regions up-north registered the least numbers of voters.
The Election Management Body(EMB) thus announced that it will conduct a two-day mop-up exercise on 8th and 9th of August at its district offices across the country.
