The National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye on Friday, February 1, 2019 slapped National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi.
The two men were both invited as guests at Multimedia station Asempa FM for a political show. However, amidst a tense debate, both men appeared to have lost the cool towards the end of the programme.
In a video that has gone viral of social media, Sammy Gyamfi is seen being hit by the Member of Parliament for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwaa, who was also a panellist on the show. This was then followed by what looked like a slap from Nana B on the face of the NDC Communications Officer. Sammy Gyamfi has not particularly been in the good books of the ruling government due to his consistent criticism of President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Meanwhile, the latest case of violence caps a week where members of the NPP and NDC have been involved in numerous melees. On Wednesday, January 30, 2019 Minority chief whip, Muntaka Mubarak and Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, nearly came to blows on the floor of Parliament.
This was followed by a shooting incident which marred the by-election in the Ayawaso West Wuogon consistency on Thursday, January 31, 2019.
