We’re probing accidental discharge of firearm in court – Judicial Service

The Judicial service says it is investigating the accidental discharge of live weapon at the law court complex in Accra.

While investigation is underway, the Judicial service noted that security measures are being put in place to avoid a recurrence.

The service has, therefore, assured all stakeholders and the general public of their safety in and around the courts.

The assurance comes after a Prison officer on escort duties on Wednesday, 23 February 2022 accidentally discharged his firearm at the High Court, Criminal Division, Court 5, Law Court Complex in Accra injuring his foot.

The officer was part of a team who brought four persons standing trial for unlawful kidnapping of Canadian ladies.

He was sent to the Judicial Service clinic of the Law Court Complex for treatment.
