The Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Nana Obiri Boahen has alleged that the members of the Western Togoland separatist group belong to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In an interview with Accra-based Neat FM, monitored by My News Ghana, he trashed assertions that the disturbances were part of plans of the ruling government to cause unrest ahead of the Volta Region ahead of December elections.
Nana Obiri Boahen was reacting to the 31 alleged Western Togoland secessionists who were remanded yesterday by the Accra High Court.
Reacting to the issue, he said, “I consider those claims to be bunkum and balderdash. It is not true. Those making this Togoland Volta thing, 99% of them are NDC. They should throw the challenge to me. No NPP person will do such things”.
